Once Android 5.0 Lollipop got released, Google also made available two new Nexus devices, the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 handsets. So, a new smartphone and a new tablet were introduced on the market along with a new major Android OS improvement. Currently Android 5.0 Lollipop is running not only on Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 but on any other Google branded smartphone and tablet, which means that new security restrictions have been installed on your Nexus device.
- First of all, on your device enable USB debugging option: navigate towards “menu – settings – about phone”; from there tap several times on Built Number. Developer options section will be enabled on your handset. Access the same and from there select “USB debugging option”.
- Also, from Developer options tap on “Enable OEM unlock” option – do that or else you won’t be able to unlock the bootloader of your Nexus device.
- On your computer go to the Android SDK folder.
- There open a command prompt Window – you can do so by pressing and holding Shift Keyboard key while right clicking on any blank space within the mentioned folder.
- Connect your smartphone / tablet with your computer by plugging in the USB cord.
- Now, head your attention towards the cmd window; there enter “Fastboot oem unlock”.
- From here just follow the on screen prompts from your Nexus smartphone or tablet.
- When done, remove USB cable and reboot your handset.
Great job. The bootloader from your Google Nexus device is now unlocked. Remember that this method works only if Android 5.0 Lollipop is featured on your smartphone / tablet. For further info use the comments area from below as we will be there to assist you.
